Use Claim-Smart To Reclaim Mis-Sold PCP Car Finance From Stellantis Car Finance

secure icon.png

Claim-Smart Limited

If you purchased a Stellantis car for personal use between 2007 and 2024 from a car dealer, you could be eligible for compensation.

If you took out PCP or Hire Purchase finance through Vauxhall Finance, PSA Finance or Stellantis Financial Services between 6 April 2007 and 1 November 2024, you may be able to complain about commission that wasn't properly explained to you.

You can complain to Stellantis Financial Services yourself for free, or Claim-Smart can help you trace your agreement and manage the complaint for you.

A lot of Vauxhall, Peugeot and Citroën drivers aren't sure who their lender was, because finance for these brands has changed names several times. A Corsa financed in 2012 and a Peugeot 2008 financed in 2022 may have had paperwork from different companies, even though complaints about both may now go to the same place.

Which car brands does Stellantis Financial Services cover?

Stellantis Financial Services provides finance for the brands owned by the Stellantis car group, including Vauxhall, Peugeot, Citroën, DS, Fiat, Jeep, Alfa Romeo and Abarth.

It was formed in 2023 by combining three separate businesses: PSA Finance, Vauxhall Finance and FCA Automotive Services.

For most people, this means a complaint about an agreement from any of those three businesses is likely to be handled by Stellantis Financial Services today.

If your paperwork mentions Peugeot Financial Services, Citroën Financial Services or DS Financial Services, these were trading names used by PSA Finance.

The history goes back further for some brands. Vauxhall was owned by General Motors until 2017, so some older Vauxhall finance may have come from a different lender.

Some older Fiat, Alfa Romeo and Jeep agreements may have been with FCA Bank, now known as CA Auto Finance. If you drove a Citroën, our Citroën PCP claims page covers that brand in more detail.

Was my Vauxhall or Peugeot finance mis-sold?

It may have been, if the dealer received commission for arranging your finance and that commission wasn't properly explained to you. Having had Stellantis finance doesn't automatically mean it was mis-sold, as each agreement is looked at separately.

Most Vauxhall and Peugeot finance was arranged in the showroom, with the salesperson acting as a credit broker (someone who arranges finance between you and the lender).

Many buyers didn't realise the dealer could earn commission from the lender for this. Under a discretionary commission arrangement, or DCA, the dealer could also choose your interest rate, and a higher rate meant more commission for them.

The FCA's redress scheme looks at DCAs as well as some other arrangements, such as very high commission or close ties between the lender and dealer that weren't made clear.

Our guide on how to tell if your car finance was mis-sold explains these in more detail.

How do I complain to Stellantis Financial Services?

You can contact the Stellantis Financial Services complaints team directly, and it won't cost you anything. You don't need a claims management company to do this.

It helps to give your full name, date of birth, current and previous addresses, the car's registration number and roughly when you took out the finance.

If your agreement was with Vauxhall Finance or PSA Finance, mention that name so they can find it quickly. Explain that you think commission may not have been properly disclosed and ask them to review your agreement under the FCA's scheme. Don't worry if you've lost your documents, as it's still possible to make a PCP claim without paperwork.

People who choose Claim-Smart often have agreements spread across different Stellantis brands and lender names, or would rather not keep track of letters and reference numbers themselves.

If you've had a mix of Vauxhall, Peugeot or Citroën agreements over the years, Claim-Smart can help you find each one and manage the complaints on your behalf.

Where do Stellantis car finance complaints stand in 2026?

Stellantis Financial Services isn't paying compensation at the moment, because parts of the FCA's scheme have been suspended while legal challenges are heard. This applies to every lender in the scheme, not just Stellantis.

On 1 July 2026, the Upper Tribunal (a court that hears challenges to regulators' decisions) ruled that lenders don't have to calculate or pay compensation until the case is decided. The hearing is expected in December 2026 or February 2027, and the FCA has said that if the scheme is upheld, payments are expected to begin in 2027. Our guide to the partial suspension of the FCA scheme explains what this means.

If your agreement qualifies, the FCA currently estimates an average payment of around £829 per agreement, though some people will receive more and some less.

This figure could change depending on the outcome of the court case, and our guide on how PCP claims are calculated explains what affects the amount.

You can still complain now. If your lender hasn't contacted you, the current deadline to complain is 31 August 2027.

Want to know where your Stellantis complaint stands while the scheme is on hold? Claim-Smart can help you check its progress and explain any letters you receive.

Principal reason for making a claim from a lender

One of the main reasons you may be entitled to redress is that the lender did not fully disclose to you the details of the commission they were paying the person who sold you the car, or the dealer/broker who introduced you to the lender.

You were not informed that you could have saved a lot of money by taking out the loan if you simply went directly to the lender

Other reasons you may have a claim against a lender:

You felt pressured at the time into buying a product or committing to a service

The bank, broker or lender failed to advise you of the financial risks

You were promised something that was not delivered

The bank, broker or lender did not fully disclose details of all applicable charges

What can you do if you were a buyer and potentially affected:

Claim-Smart will act on your behalf to determine if you are owed any compensation.
If we represent your claim for you and you receive compensation, we will charge you

a fee in accordance with our Terms & Conditions. This will never exceed 36%
(inclusive of VAT). If you cancel your agreement with us after the 14 day cooling off
period, we will charge you our reasonable costs for any work carried out on your
behalf. Please see our T&Cs for more information.

However, it is important to note that  you do not need to use us or anyone else, to make your
claim or complaint to your lender. You can do this yourself for free. If your claim or complaint is
not successful on the first instance you can refer it to the Finance Ombudsman Service
yourself, again for free.

*We work on a 'No Win, No Fee' basis which means you pay nothing unless your claim succeeds. A fee of 18–36% (including VAT) applies only on successful claims, and a cancellation fee may apply after the 14 day cooling off period.

However, if you choose to make a claim you should be aware that the FCA is currently consulting on a redress scheme, so lenders do not have to make any payment until after the FCA has completed this process. This is currently scheduled to be completed in early 2026 and the complaint handling pause ends 31 May 2026 so we believe payments, if any, from lenders will not start until several weeks after that date.

The FCA periodically issue important statements on vehicle finance mis-selling and discretionary commission arrangements.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Yes, PSA Finance was one of the businesses combined to create Stellantis Financial Services in 2023. Complaints about PSA Finance agreements for Peugeot, Citroën or DS cars are likely to go to Stellantis Financial Services now.

  • Your paperwork may mention Santander because PSA Finance UK was part-owned by Santander Consumer Finance for several years. If your agreement was directly with Santander, our Santander Consumer Finance claims page may help.

  • It might, depending on when you took out the agreement. Newer agreements are likely to be with Stellantis Financial Services, while some older ones may be with FCA Bank, now CA Auto Finance. Your paperwork or credit report should show which.

  • Your agreement may be with a different lender, because Vauxhall was owned by General Motors before 2017. If you're unsure, our list of lenders you can make a car finance claim against may help you narrow it down.

  • No, Stellantis Financial Services isn't one of the four parties that brought the legal challenge. The challengers are Volkswagen Financial Services, Mercedes-Benz Financial Services, Crédit Agricole Auto Finance and the campaign group Consumer Voice. The suspension still applies to Stellantis, though, so compensation is on hold for everyone.

  • You can ask Stellantis to review its decision if you think it has made a mistake. Lenders still have to tell people who aren't owed compensation, even while the scheme is partly suspended. Our guide to where to make a complaint about PCP car finance explains your options if you still disagree.

  • It is common to hear after a few weeks of submitting a claim. This may result in a payout or just an update on your account status.

  • Probably not, because vehicles used for business purposes aren't covered by the FCA's scheme. A Vauxhall Vivaro or Peugeot Partner financed for a business wouldn't normally qualify, but a van financed for personal use might.
